CHICAGO, IL – Disparti Law Group Accident & Injury Lawyers wins again with a favorable appellate ruling for a client who is suing the Cook County Sheriff for Illinois Whistleblower Act violations.
Howard Denham approached Disparti Law Group Accident & Injury Lawyers when the Cook County Sheriff sought his termination for his having reported his concerns about official misconduct to government officials and politicians. Disparti attorneys subsequently filed a lawsuit alleging that Denham’s proposed termination violated the Illinois Whistleblower Act, and sought damages for Denham. The Circuit Court dismissed the complaint, stating that Denham had to contest his termination through the Cook County Sheriff’s Merit Board before he could bring claims under the Whistleblower Act.
“I am so relieved to have Disparti Law Group Accident & Injury Lawyers and Cass Casper and Gia Scatchell on my side. From the beginning, they have been steadfast in defending me and bringing my claims, and I feel like they always have my back through thick and thin,” said Howard Denham regarding the recent win.
On appeal, the First District Appellate Court of Illinois agreed with Denham and Disparti attorneys that he can bring claims under the Whistleblower Act now, and reinstated his case in the Circuit Court of Cook County. The case will now move forward into discovery and towards trial.
