Chicago, December 1, 2021: On Saturday, November 27th, Kaidon Bell, 8th grade student at Mason Elementary School in Lawndale, was killed when struck by a car speeding down the 4400 block of West Cermak Road. Kaidon had just celebrated his 14th birthday a week before.
As reported by ABC7 Chicago, Bell was walking with his friend, a 12-year-old girl, when they were struck by the speeding vehicle. Their bodies were thrown feet away. Bell died on the pavement while his friend was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Witnesses say Kaidon heroically tried to protect his friend.
On the day when Kaidon should have been returning to school from Thanksgiving break, his family has setup a GoFundMe page, https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-kaiden-bell, in hopes to raise the $10,000 needed for funeral expenses.
“The house is so quiet without Kaidon – he was our entertainment – our everything,” says Neikara Bell, one of his six older siblings.
“This is a terrible tragedy that a family should not have to endure. Kaidon was the perfect son, brother, and friend to so many in the community. We will not stop working on behalf of the Bell family to find justice. We ask the community to join us in praying for the Bell family and also for the young girl who is fighting for her life,” said Attorney Larry Disparti whose law firm, The Disparti Law Group Accident & Injury Lawyers, the family has retained for help.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Those who wish to help the family of Kaidon Bell may contribute online or call the Stone Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, at (773) 762-0013.
