As you may now know, I have recently formed a new law firm called Disparti Law Group, P.A., to protect my valued clients from abusive and harassing debt collectors. We do not charge you for this service – the aim is to help you, not to place you in more debt.

If you don’t answer collection calls, things may get worse. While most debt collectors are skilled at pushing your buttons to elicit some kind of payment, by ignoring those collection calls altogether you may be giving the collectors an incentive to keep calling. Instead, answer the call and document who is calling you, their telephone number, what company they work for, the date they called, and what exactly they said. If you owe the debt, but are not in a financial position to make payments, clearly tell the debt collector “I do not have the money to make payments at this time, so please stop calling me.” If you expect that your financial position will remain the same for the next six months, tell the debt collector that and ask him or her to not call you for the next six months. Again, document every single telephone call. If you clearly inform the debt collector of your inability to pay, and they still keep calling you, you may have a claim for debt collector harassment. If this happens, we may be able to help you.

If you believe that you are a victim of unfair debt collection practices, call Disparti Law Group, P.A., at (813) 221-0500. My partners, Ryan Hasanbasic and Paul Fowkes, will be happy to look over your situation and determine whether you have a viable case. If so, they will represent you against your debt collectors and, in certain circumstances, file a lawsuit on your behalf. Again, we charge you absolutely no costs, filing fees, or attorneys’ fees throughout this process. The intent is to protect you, one of my valued clients, not to put you in more debt.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Ryan or Paul. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
